- Nov 25 – 27, 2025
- Centro Cultural FGV · Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro
Data, science and public health in the same room
E-Vigilância 2025 is a symposium that aims to bring together and strengthen the community of researchers, students, professionals and entrepreneurs from different sectors interested in technologies for health surveillance. Together, we will share innovative initiatives that are already successful or that can be incorporated into public administration, specifically in the monitoring and control of communicable diseases. The theme of this edition will be
“Data science in epidemiological surveillance: for what and for whom?”
seeking to debate the role of data science in the challenges posed by the preparation and response of adaptation to more unpredictable scenarios of climate, environmental and social changes.

This is the fourth edition of E-Surveillance, a biannual event that has already witnessed the emergence of the novel coronavirus, as well as the resurgence of known and vaccine-preventable diseases, such as yellow fever and measles. The challenges have not been any less significant in the past two years. The largest dengue epidemic was recorded in 2024, in addition to the expansion of Oropouche Fever, with impacts still being identified. We have also witnessed major disasters such as the historic flood in Rio Grande do Sul and the historic drought in the North region, both with immense health impacts, both immediate and long-lasting. The increase in fires has resulted in health impacts throughout the country, as well as environmental contamination by mercury and pesticides. The year 2025 begins with a new emergence of yellow fever and the need for containment through vaccination. During this period, many research and innovation efforts have been carried out, with increasing research-service interaction.
Data science is increasingly present in everyone's lives, as a tool for predictive modeling and situation analysis. Natural language models, the famous artificial intelligence, promise to revolutionize the way we work and think. How does this apply to responding to major health events? This theme is central to this edition of E-Vigilância.
The congress represents an excellent opportunity for researchers, exhibitors, healthcare professionals and members of the academic community to collaborate, seeking access to cutting-edge technologies and proposing cutting-edge initiatives. Furthermore, the event aims to boost scientific and technological development, promote the exchange of results and strengthen practices through cooperation.
